The debate rages on. Are Pitbulls a danger to the public, or no more so than any other breed? Should they be illegal to own? Have they earned their bad reputation?
We have all heard the horror stories.
We have heard the other side of the argument as well. Heartwarming accounts of loyal loving pets.
My years working as a veterinary technician afforded me the opportunity to experience a wide variety of dog breeds, particularly under stressful situations when the ...

So, the question really is…is it okay to take Marley on my runs?
My son's friend told me that his aunt always runs with her dog. She competes in marathons. The dog hides when she pulls out his leash. Ya think?
On the other end of the spectrum is the proverbial canine version of the couch potato. "Oh, my Fancy wouldn’t last for a quarter mile." Fancy needs to get her butt off the sofa and go for ...

School mornings find me making breakfast smoothies. School mornings usually find Tilly at my feet as I make breakfast smoothies. One never knows what treasures might fall from the sky. Yesterday, Tilly died and went to heaven, metaphorically speaking of course.
Frozen bananas are key to the texture, and most importantly the temperature of a smoothie. Frozen bananas are also considered by Tilly to be a delectable treat, secondary only to ice cream.
Thus, when a wayward banana sailed off the ...
Marley Goes Naked

The temperature was only in the mid-70s, yet Marley was panting as though he had been dropped in the epicenter of the Sonoran Desert. Clearly, he would not make it this summer as a Muppet. Out came the clippers.
At the conclusion of his shave, I looked upon his scrawny frame, finding it hard to imagine that at least some of his little personality was not cut away along with all that fur. And, evidently he ...

Tilly is eight and one would think that she was beyond puppy antics. Beyond chewing up valuables, oh like say a Beats cord. How about raiding a cricket Kritter Keeper? But we know better, for we have lived with this conniving genius of a dog for six of those eight years. So, Saturday morning finds us at Target, purchasing a trash can with a child proof lid, as well as a lock tight container for the dog ...
Help!! My Cat Has Diabetes!
Posted 02/07/15 by Holly Jarrett
As owner and operator of Lil’ Buddies Pet Sitters and former veterinary technician, I am familiar with the distress a diagnosis of feline diabetes can produce. I too have personally experienced this disease in my cat.
As I looked back, I began to piece the puzzle together. Was Momma Kitty sitting at her water bowl several times last week? Was the litter box especially wet? Was she looking thin? Maybe it wasn’t just her ...
Born to Chase Cats?
Posted by Holly Jarrett 02/01/15
Dogs and cats are natural enemies. Or are they? My dog Trudy would say that some of her best friends are cats. However, my other dog Marley would say his favorite dish is a cat. It's not as though he has had a bad experience with a kitty. Unfortunately, he joined our family at 11 weeks with an obsession to seek out cats to chase already locked and loaded. Obviously, this chasing is not ...
Ultimately, sometime around Christmas, we find ourselves at the local pet store, hoping to find that special something for our precious furry one. But beware, as many of these "special somethings" can be hazardous to your pet's health. Any toy, by the way, can be unsafe when your dog is unsupervised. Take a look on the tag. You will be hard pressed to find a label that does not include the warning that your pet should be supervised when playing with ...
